Residential:
Demand for residential accommodation seems to continue to be strong. I can only guess that this is a result of the recent interest rate rises making mortgages and house buying an expensive option. The estate may have properties coming free in early spring and it is unlikely that anything will be available before hand.
It is with great sadness that Sion Turner the local plumbing contractor has recently sold his business to a local developer and all his staff will be working on their behalf, this will not only leave the estate but the local community somewhat short, so the hunt is now on for plumbers even more so that usual. We wish Sion and his team all the very best.
Farms:
The family at Plas Isa have been undertaking a project which they hope to complete shortly to promote their farm as a wedding and conference venue, and we wish them every success with their development.
Generally this autumn, tenant farmers across the estate and indeed throughout North Wales have had a difficult time with the collapse of the light lamb market with the traditional sales period being the autumn. This is a direct result of foot and mouth. Fortunately the beef trade has not been so severely hit, however there are continuing short term difficulties. There is a general air of optimism amongst the farming fraternity that things will pick up and the future is looking good.
Commercial:
The winter storage is now almost full, however there are approximately 10 outside storage spaces available.
The A5 road improvements at Pont Melin Rug are commencing at a pace and McAlpines are working extremely well on the project. McAlpines do hope to be finished on time, which in essence will be seven weeks ahead of schedule because the contract was awarded seven weeks after the anticipated date by the National Assembly for Wales.
Sporting: All of the shoots across the estate have had a good start to the season. We are also very pleased to see large quantities of game off the estate being processed by Will Oakley and his team at Willo Game, to be sold on to a variety of independent retailers and a large contract into Tesco each week.
