In keeping with Rhug Estate’s ethos to help educate the next generation, we are delighted to announce that Mared Williams has recently joined the staff team, on placement, for the next 10 months from Harper Adams University.

Mared is currently in her second year at Harper Adams, studying for a Foundation Degree in Agri Business. As part of her studies she has chosen to undertake a 10-month placement with Rhug Estate to help put into practise everything she has learnt during her first year at University.

Lord Newborough, Owner of Rhug Estate, said, “It is a pleasure to have Mared with us for the next ten months. As an organic farm we always strive to ensure we farm in a sustainable way to ensure a better and healthier world for future generations. It is therefore part of our whole organic ethos to do all we can to help nurture and educate our future generations. We enjoy having students work with us in all aspects of the business at Rhug. The younger generation brings fresh, interesting ideas with them and hopefully go away with a clear understanding of the benefits of an organic way of life.”

Mared lives on a small holding near Llanwrst and looks after her horses in her spare time. During her year with Rhug she will spend time in each area of the business including wholesale; marketing; accounts; on the farm during lambing season; in the Cutting Plant; in the Bistro, Farm Shop, Take Away and Drive Thru.

Mared said, “When I was researching where to spend my placement year, I hoped Rhug would accept my application as it has everything that I am interested in. My degree incorporates farm business management, agri food, marketing and farm animal production. I was so pleased when Lord Newborough agreed to me spending the year with the team. I know already that I am going to learn so much from my time at Rhug.”
