The Rhug Estate Farm Shop is now stocking Sabor de Amor cooking sauces – as featured in the final of the ‘Top of the Shop’ series presented by celebrity chef, Tom Kerridge, last night.

Last night’s final episode of the series saw Beatriz Albo, from Wrexham, who created Sabor de Amor, compete against six other finalists with her unique Paella Sauce.

Sabor de Amor was created by Dr Beatriz Albo to bring foods with a Spanish essence to those who value flavour and quality. Coming from a family with a history of food production in the beautiful city of Salamanca in Spain, she spent a great part of her career working in molecular biology, food research and education before a love of the flavours of Spain set her on the path of developing a range of sauces, preserves and other products. Using her scientific knowledge and well practised research methods she sources the finest ingredients, which are then crafted into products that have intense, natural flavours without additives, artificial colours or preservatives.

The Rhug Farm Shop now stocks every cooking sauce in the Sabor de Amor range, including the now-famous Paella Sauce, and the vegetarian version of the Paella Sauce, aswell as Salsa Brava, Sofrito, Tapenade and Alioli cooking sauces.

Graham Webster, Manager of the Rhug Farm Shop, said, “I have watched every episode of the Top of the Shop series and I was delighted that Beatriz won episode four with her Paella Sauce. Since watching the programme I have got in touch with Sabor de Amor to ensure our customers at the Rhug get the opportunity to buy these tasty sauces. We are so lucky to have such amazing food producers on our doorstep here in north Wales.”

The judges on ‘Top of the Shop’, Nisha Katona and Alison Swan Parente, choose the Paella Sauce as the winner of episode four of the series. They both agreed that Beatriz and the sauce were real winners. Nisha said it was a winner for its flavour as well as its heritage and Alison said people are looking for new dishes to make and she thinks people will use this sauce to try something new.

Beatriz cannot believe the amount of people who have been in touch with her since the programme aired on BBC Two a few weeks ago. Whilst delivering her sauces to the Rhug she said, “I used to visit the Rhug many many years ago as a customer when it was a small farm shop. I never thought then that I’d be returning one day with my own sauces to be sold here. I hope customers enjoy the taste of Spanish sunshine that my sauces bring.”
