Back in December 2022 we welcomed presenter Charlotte Smith and the production team from flagship BBC rural affairs programme Countryfile to Rhug Estate. With avian flu a worry for all sectors of British agricultural businesses, this episode of the weekly TV show mainly focused on the challenges faced by traditional fieldsports and the workers and families that it supports.
Lord Newborough showed the team around the fields and hedgerows of the Estate and talked through the history of his family at Rhug, and the organic farming method that he introduced to the farm here over 20 years ago.
They then spoke to head gamekeeper David Pooler and his team of keepers, beaters and vital support staff that rely on shooting and fieldsports for their livelihoods.
