From Pirates to influencial ladies, Sadie Jarrett updates us on her three year PhD project about Rhug's history

Bangor University and Rhug Estate started work on a collaborative project in September 2017 to explore the influence and significance of Rhug and Bachymbyd estates during the 16th and 17th centuries. Funded by Lord Newborough, the three-year PhD project forms a central part of the early development of the Institute for the Study of Welsh Estates (ISWE). The research is being carried out by Sadie Jarrett, a history graduate from Cambridge and Oxford Brooks universities who originates from Port Talbot. Here is Sadie’s latest instalment into her research:

Rhug Estate welcomes Local High School Pupils to the Farm

The Rhug Estate welcomed a group of Year Seven pupils from Ysgol y Berwyn, Bala, recently. The group of ten children and staff visited Rhug Farm as part of the Lead Creative Schools Scheme which explores new and creative approaches to teaching and learning.

Farm Shop announced as only Welsh finalist in Guild of Fine Food Shop of the year Award 2019

The Guild of Fine Food’s annual Shop of the Year awards, an accreditation scheme which recognises and promotes excellence in independent retail, has announced its finalists for 2019. Rhug Estate Farm Shop is the only Welsh finalist in the running to win the Farm Shop of the Year Award.
