Job Title | Poultry Assistant / General Farm Worker |
---|---|
Role Summary | We are seeking a hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic Poultry Assistant / General farm Worker to join our team. You will play a vital role in supporting the growing organic broiler enterprise and work across the wider farming business supporting the farm team in their daily roles, including repairs and maintenance around the estate, cattle and sheep husbandry, and field work. This opportunity will allow the successful candidate to develop their skills and work as part of a large team and help us to produce the highest quality products to retail direct to customers through the wider business. |
Key Responsibilities |
• Assist with the day-to-day husbandry of the poultry • Carry out maintenance of machinery, fencing, buildings, and around the farmyard • Support the poultry manager in collecting weekly KPI data to evaluate the performance of the poultry enterprise and feed back to our partners at Capestone • Assist with the planning, cleaning and placing of new batches of chickens • Maintain and implement biosecurity measures for the poultry site • Liaise with other departments across the farm to assist with seasonal workloads • Provide general support to the team |
Skills Required |
• Livestock husbandry experience (Primarily poultry, but ideally would have experience with sheep and cattle) • Tractor driving experience • Rough Terrain telehandler certificate • Good work ethic and a can-do attitude • Strong organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and tidiness • Trustworthy & punctual • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Poultry Passport training courses (can be provided on the job) • Whilst training can be provided, knowledge of farming operations would be essential |
Hours of Work | 07:30am to 05:00pm Monday to Friday and a 1 weekend every 3 weeks roster (approximately 4.5hrs weekend work) |
