Before commerce met medicine, we foraged, we crushed, we concocted. Relying solely on the spoils of nature at foot and hand “Afreet” builds from original tincture, potion and medicine. A cloak trailed across forest floor grazing a litany of bruised blackberry, guaiac bark embedded in wet peat. The pestle and mortar continues on to crush liquorice root, black pepper and rose leaf (caught before the precipice of rot). A sullen portrait in black with a wistful wink.
The decoy of commercial medicine gave the jumping off point to create a scent inspired by found 17th-century recipe. A sweet poison originally designed to heal and repair human ails. A touch of witchcraft. The cheek and spirit of this aroma concludes with black amber. A night when stars hide and feathered friends are silent.
