Get ready for a spine-tingling Halloween experience as Animal Encounters Wales return to Rhug with their Creepy Crawlies & Reptiles Workshop! 🐍🕸️
Meet some of nature’s most fascinating (and fearsome!) creatures up close — from snakes and lizards to giant bugs and tarantulas. This interactive session is designed for curious young explorers who love wildlife and a little Halloween thrill.
Morning Workshop – Bookable Session (10:30am–11:30am)
Join the Animal Encounters team for an hour-long, hands-on experience where children can:
-
Meet and handle a variety of creepy crawlies and reptiles.
-
Learn about their unusual diets, habitats, and how they’re cared for.
-
Face their fears (if they dare!) and discover the wilder side of nature.
🎟️ Tickets are required for children only, and spaces are limited. Book now via the form – but be quick! This session sold out quickly last year!
👧 Age guidance: Suitable for children aged 18 months and up. Parental supervision and attendance required for children under 8.
Afternoon Pop-Up Session (on the Pumpkin Patch)
If you missed out on booking the morning workshop, don’t worry! The Animal Encounters team will also be hosting an afternoon pop-up session on the field.
Come along to meet the animals, learn something new, and get up close to some of nature’s creepiest crawlies.
A small fee will apply for the pop-up session, payable at the patch on the day.

Foraging Fun - Witches and Webs
The Spooky Garden, Rhug Estate Farm Shop & Café (LL21 0EH)
Our popular Halloween nature workshops return this October — led by Leah from Living Wild, and filled with creativity, laughter, and outdoor fun. 🌿
Join us for a magical two-hour session where children will craft their own Halloween creations using natural and foraged materials — all provided on the day. Each session ends around the fire pit with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows — the perfect cosy Halloween treat. 🍫🔥
There are two workshops to choose from, and families are welcome to attend both!
🕸️ Morning (10–12): Spiders & Webs – craft your own spooky spider webs and pine cone spiders.
🧙♀️ Afternoon (1–3): Witches’ Wands & Magic Brooms – create your very own broomstick and wand to complete your Halloween costume.
Each child will take their spooky creations home to keep, as a fun reminder of their day.
Please dress appropriately for the weather — the workshops take place outdoors in the field behind the Farm Shop, near the Pumpkin Patch (follow the overflow car park signs).
Suitable for children aged 5–11.
Each child must be accompanied by an adult (ticket includes adult admission).
🌿 Spaces are limited and sold out quickly last year — early booking is recommended!
